This installation is part of an in-store concept comprising six stations commissioned by EGLO Leuchten GmbH.
The challenge was to create a unique interactive experience for EGLO World of Lights flagship store that not only showcases EGLO's passion for lights but also empowers customers to see themselves as co-creators in the future of lighting. The experience should help customers understand the origins and evolution of artificial light and foster a sense of shared passion and purpose.
“From Flame to Future: A Journey of Light" is a multisensory VR animated short film that brings visitors on a journey to the evolution of artificial light. It provides a multi-sensory location-based roomscale VR experience through the use of a custom-made cocoon equipped with heat, wind, and light sensors to create immersive and interactive feedback both inside and outside the VR headset.
The project offers a 6DoF (six degrees of freedom, meaning you can move in all directions) linear experience with minimal interaction, incorporating hand-tracking for those who feel comfortable engaging with it. Ambisonic audio, custom-designed characters, animations, and soundscores contribute to the immersive atmosphere.
The innovation in this project stems from the seamless combination of architecture, interior design, and electronic engineering to create an all-encompassing VR experience for users with little to no previous exposure to VR.

By incorporating heat, wind, and light sensors, this multisensory experience sets itself apart from conventional VR projects, providing a level of immersion that is both memorable and impactful", states Gabs from vrisch, the creative director for this project.
VR experiences like this are just as suitable for visitors to road shows and trade fairs who have had little experience with VR before.
